The beauty of maintaining a steady Zen practice is how it helps us to develop wholesome habits and reap the fruits of profound, time-tested, spiritual teachings. Also, living according to the teachings is really practical. There are so many ways to free ourselves from the automatic behaviors that reinforce suffering patterns. Understanding the meaning of Buddhist practice in action is the focus of our first sesshin of the fall season, coming up August 27-30. Jomon Martin Sensei will be joining us in a deeper dive into the Arc of Zen Practice. Sesshin is invaluable for steadying the mind, for seeing actively into the practice instructions and awakening to the full vitality of our daily lives. The simplicity of sesshin helps us to remember what really matters as we uncover our own innate clarity. We will again offer a residential option for this sesshin, which deepens the timeless quality of heartmind. Sesshin is an essential part of a Zen life, a refuge of rest into the simplicity of just this moment.
