From Mushin:
The whole world in the ten directions is One Bright Pearl, the title of the essay by Dogen Zenji that we worked with at the Rohatsu sesshin just finished. We come away from it with a keener awareness of how this one bright pearl, each moment, is shaped by infinite ingredients – all the conditions, light and dark, kind and difficult. Whatever appears and fills our immediate world, flows forth together in and from the ten directions. Ordinary and familiar, bits and pieces, ever-changing, all the many paths depend on the quality of mind that you bring to them. South, west, north and east, southeast, southwest, northwest, northeast, above and below. Is there anything outside? What doesn’t lie within? What qualities does each dimension bring forth? What actions does it ask of us?
But, wait a minute? What is the dimension of right here?
