From Mushin:
Many of us are preparing to attend Rohatsu sesshin, a week that celebrates the Buddha’s awakening. We celebrate by embodying it during an intensive week of being present in all that we do. Everything, from zazen to chanting, to work practice, to drinking a cup of tea and more zazen. While eating oryoki-style, and even while resting we support each other to stay present. The silence of sesshin encourages wide awareness.
Noble silence regards everything as worthy of attention. If we fall back into inner mental chatter and separate from the moment, we just return, just return as soon as we notice. We return to the sounds, tastes, sights, all the sensations and the presence of our fellow practitioners. But there’s more also, the still presence of the inanimate world. In this silent practice all things come forward to speak in their wordless language, to express the language of this one bright pearl. If you can, please join us on zoom for the evening Dharma talks.
