First Thought
What is your first thought of the day? Practicing awareness from the very first moment is a challenge and one step, first step, of walking the path of the Way, right from the start.
Have you noticed what you’re aware of when you open your eyes in the morning? The very first thought? Is it about your list of things to do? Or is it a feeling, an emotion — of anticipation, or anxiety, or commentary on the dream you are emerging from? Or is that very first moment that the eyelids lift, a sensation — of the bedcovers? a body ache? the smell of coffee? a neighbor’s hammering? birdsong, dog bark?
Take a look if you haven’t already. Day-by-day. To resolve to bring the mind forward from sleep with bodhi mind is a way to live into your vow of awakening.  May this day bring awakening forward into the human world, and help myriad beings be at peace.
