Happy New Year!  More moments to practice Zen in. A practice that emphasizes presence, moment by moment by this moment.  What flows here and now is our one life — our inheritance from a long line of ancestors, of ancient and current teachers. They inspire us, and remind us, and point out the Way. They have offered us many methods to clear our minds and hearts of all that creates a sense of lack in us, a sense of dissatisfaction, restlessness and affliction. We inherit their message: see through the concerns of your singular self and realize the larger self that reaches into every corner of the universe. Can you recognize how these teachings can function in your own life and use them well?
The Buddha said, “Be a lamp unto yourself. Work for your liberation with diligence. Whatever precious jewels there are in the heavenly worlds, there is nothing comparable to one who is awakened.” With this light we can benefit the Earth and all beings.
Our upcoming Dedication Ceremony honors these guides and affirms our sangha’s commitment to keeping the offering bright and clear for all who come after us. This is up to each and every one of us. Please join in this sangha ceremony, as you continue to realize and manifest the liberating portion that your life can be.
