When we vow to not defame the Three Treasures, the tenth of the Grave Precepts, we are celebrating the facets of the Jewel that we inherit in this tradition. Respect the Buddha. Upholding this, we accept all the details of our life, no matter what they are, with an open heart-mind. Open to insight, open to learning. Respecting the Buddha makes me not forget this infinite life that I am given. I keep in mind that everything I do matters.
Unfolding the Dharma, I honor the varieties of experience that express the truth of this moment. I appreciate how they contribute to the whole of my life.
Nourishing the Sangha as I am nourished by the Sangha. I acknowledge the continual exchange of universal energies that underlie the nature of all life. There is no life without sangha. The true nature of awakened mind is always before us.
Respect the Buddha, Unfold the Dharma, Nourish the Sangha.
